Every March 22nd, World Water Day is celebrated, at CONSERVAL we join the celebration in 2021 by organizing the workshop “The value of water: key in the production and socio-economic activity”.

The objective? To publicize the achievements and challenges faced by the CONSERVAL project in its objective of implementing a circular economy system in the canning industry and, in general, in the seafood processing sector.
The canning industry and cookers generate a high volume of solid by-products and wastewater that, without proper management, have a negative impact on the environment. It is key for the preservation of the marine ecosystem, as well as for the sustainability of the sector, that the residual currents generated during the production process are treated.
At CONSERVAL, the recovery of wastewater entails its purification and the reduction of the pollutant load. In this way, it contributes to the preservation of the marine ecosystem; source of raw material for the canning sector.
In addition, the event will serve as a presentation of the CONSERVAL Cross-border network, a space that was created with the aim of promoting sustainable management models based on the valorization of waste streams (solid and liquid) from companies that process and preserve seafood. . , by adopting a circular economy system. Likewise, in the event we will have the participation of other initiatives at a European level that contribute, like CONSERVAL, to the purification of wastewater, preserving the environment, and adding value such as:
- HYDROUSA , a project is financed by the European union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement No. 776643, aiming at revolutionizing the water supply chain in Mediterranean regions by demonstrating innovative solutions for water/wastewater treatment and management, which will close the water loops and will also boost their agricultural and energy profile.
- NextGEN, a project is financed by the European union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement No. 776541, aiming at demonstrating innovative technological, business, and governance solutions for water in the circular economy in ten high-profile, large-scale, demonstration cases across Europe.
