- Conserval Poctep project holds its final conference on 15 March in Santiago de Compostela
After three years of work, betting on the valorisation of products and wastewater from the canning industry in the POCTEP area, the Conserval project is coming to an end!
The results achieved will be presented at an event open to the public – after registration – on 15 March at the Ciudad de la Cultura (Santiago de Compostela), which will run from 10.00 to 13.30 hours. The event can be also followed online. A negative antigen test, to be carried out on the spot, will be requested for those attending in person.
The final conference will guide us through the main milestones achieved by the consortium, the result of a multidisciplinary research work thanks to which innovative solutions and technologies have been developed and tested to enable us to make use of waste flows – solid and liquid – from the canning industry. The entire conference will be in Spanish.

Agenda of the day
The event is divided into four blocks. During the first, ‘Recovery of valuable products present in food industry streams’, the results of the project will be analysed by answering the question: what have we achieved? From April 2019 to the present day. The project leader, Cetaqua, together with ANFACO-CECOPESCA and the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) will participate in this first section.
In the next part of the event, also by the hand of Cetaqua, we will approach the CIGAT Biofactory project, to discover the shared synergies and also get into the dairy and wine sectors. Here, we will also discuss the challenges encountered in industrialising the production of volatile fatty acids from waste streams.
The remaining blocks will address the opportunities for market transfer of the resulting technologies, as well as the perception and acceptance of end-users of the resulting new products, with presentations given by FEUGA and USC, respectively.
The day will conclude with a debate on the implementation of the circular economy in the food industry. Are you going to miss it? Check all the details in the agenda and register.
